Learn Vietnamese Numbers 10–20: Easy Pronunciation Guide

Vietnamese Numbers 10–20

Here are the Vietnamese numbers from 10 to 20:

10	mười
11	mười một
12	mười hai
13	mười ba
14	mười bốn
15	mười lăm
16	mười sáu
17	mười bảy
18	mười tám
19	mười chín
20	hai mươi

How to Count from 10 to 20 in Vietnamese

Learning numbers in Vietnamese is quite simple. For numbers from 11 to 19, you usually use mười (ten) followed by the number.

For example:

• 11 – mười một – eleven
• 12 – mười hai – twelve
• 13 – mười ba – thirteen
• 14 – mười bốn – fourteen
• 16 – mười sáu – sixteen
• 17 – mười bảy – seventeen
• 18 – mười tám – eighteen
• 19 – mười chín – nineteen

Number 15: mười lăm

There is one important rule to remember when learning Vietnamese numbers 10–20.

The number 5 is normally năm, but after mười, it changes to lăm.

So:

15 = mười lăm

Not mười năm.

Number 20: hai mươi

20 = hai mươi

The word mươi is used to form numbers in the tens.

For example:

• 20 – hai mươi
• 30 – ba mươi
• 40 – bốn mươi
• 50 – năm mươi

This pattern will help you learn larger Vietnamese numbers more easily.

Practice Vietnamese Numbers 10–20

Try saying these numbers aloud:

10 – 11 – 12 – 13 – 14 – 15 – 16 – 17 – 18 – 19 – 20
